The Urquia name originated in Basque Country (Northern Spain) and it means ‘birch’ a tree symbolizing growth, renewal, and stability because of their adaptiveness and resilience under harsh conditions. Like the birch, I too am highly adaptable and like to think that I thrive in a variety of conditions.
As the son of immigrants, I feel a strong responsibility to adapt and excel. My goal is to leverage my experiences and learn from those around me to hopefully make a positive impact on those who need it most.

I was most recently on the Founding Team at Marco Experiences, a multi-product marketplace for bringing employees together through extraordinary experiences and custom events where I managed the day-to-day business and teams responsible for Business Operations, Finance Operations, People Operations, Marketplace/Product Operations (including new Product Launches), Experience/Event Operations and Support efforts across our platform.
Prior to that, I was Chief of Staff to Chief Product Officer at Silicon Valley Bank, Special Projects Lead at Bungalow and Chief of Staff to the US Managing Partner + Strategy Consultant at Capco to F500 clients. -

I like to put my early stage operating experience to use by helping other founders and teams. With years of experience in scaling startups, I can help with strategic guidance and hands-on support - whether it be fractional or advisory.

Having worked in marketplaces multiple times, I'm naturally drawn to the business model. In my opinion, some of the best marketplaces maximize outcomes for all entities - Customers get the best product or service and Suppliers provide their product or service most efficiently, maximizing the economic outcomes.
I think there are several opportunities for narrow marketplaces to have Operating Systems integrated into them to maximize service delivery (ex. Event Planning, Interior Design, Brand Design, etc.). I'm interested in exploring how we can optimize efficiency of service providers by giving them an OS to centralize their work and then building marketplaces for them to sell their services or goods - i.e. Vertical SaaS opportunities.
Separately, I'm interested in Residential Real Estate - specifically the Home Renovation market. I think there are specific steps in the value chain that can save time and money through the use of technology - ex. Architectural Plans, Code Compliance, Permitting, etc.
